Control!!

    I must admit; This week, my thoughts have been all over the place.  So, I would like to warn you in advance that this blog will be all over the place as well!! If I choose to, I will get to a point but, until then, allow me to ramble on about some nonsense in an attempt to make a weak connection!! Thank you!!
    Recently, I went on a date with a young lady.  Ok, she was a SMOKING HOT young lady.  Excuse me while I take a second to pat myself on the back!! Anyway, we started talking and, unfortunately, the topic of conversation turned to music.  I asked her what her favorite form of music was.  She told me, "I love rap music and hip hop." Now, for those of you who don't know me, I am a dedicated fan of rap music. I've listened to hip hop for over 26 years now (Damn I'm old!), and I've written and produced songs for myself and others.  I said "Cool!" Then she pulled out her phone, went on to You Tube and played for me who she thought was, as she put it, one of the best and most real rappers in the game today.  Then she played this for me: http://youtu.be/bEadSQU9q-I  You can click the link at your own risk!! After listening to it, it made me think of how much I hate rap music now!!!
    I used to have a DEEP love for rap music.  But once it became less about the art form and more about the money, the music started to go downhill. Guys have sacrificed talking about relevant social issues in favor of money, fine women, jewelry, basically, a whole lot of nothing!!! Its basically what happens when you lose control of something you create, which is the main point of this blog: Control!!
A lot of us lose control of our lives and we don't even realize it.  We give it up to our jobs and allow them to stress us out to the max.  We give it up to our belongings as we feel that if we don't have the latest gadgets or nicest cars, somehow, we are less significant than the next man or woman. At times we give up control to our lovers, letting them dictate the terms of a relationship in exchange for sexual and emotional favors.  Here is the Question that I demand you ask yourself this week: "Am I in Control?" If the answer is NO, then the next question should be, "How do I regain control?" Whether you know it or not, how much control you have over yourself can determine the next 5, 10, hell, the rest of your life!!!
    Trust me, if you aren't in control, once you take it back, you will feel like a new person.  This is the same way I feel about rap music.  Once the artists take back the artistry, you will not only have a better product, but the art will have a better representation to the world rather than the garbage you see on T.V. now.  If I see another 100 tattoo-having, raccoon-face sucka with jeggins and ugg boots on my television screen again, I'll........do nothing but change the channel (Straight Thug Talk right there!!)!! The whole point of this for you, the reader, and you, the rapper, is to learn the power of control and use it wisely.
    As for the young lady, there will be no second date!!!
