My Two Cents!!

Damn!! This has been such a crazy week, not only in my personal life, but just in general.  I told you when I first started that I was going to keep the blog entertaining rather than discuss heavy issues.  But, at the same time, this Trayvon Martin situation has got a lot of people riled up and it opens up old wounds in regards to racial profiling, classism, the influence of $ (NRA I got you!), etc.  That's why, this week, I will break this blog down into what I will call The Funny, The Ridiculous, and The Tragic.  I will discuss 3 stories in the news and give you my two cents.  After a week like this, I feel it is still my duty to provide at least a bit of entertainment!!!
First, I will address the The Funny: The Tim Tebow-to-the-Jets-The-Lord-is-My-Shepherd story.  The Jets showed this week why they will always be the little brother to the Giants by trading 2 draft picks to the Broncos for God's 2nd begotten son and a 7th round draft pick (only after they sign Drew Stanton to a contract to be the backup QB a few days earlier). Now some will try to put a positive spin on it by talking about Tebow's leadership, the Wildcat offense, the fact that he's good on his feet and we all know how Rex Ryan loves feet, etc. But the problem is that the Jets didn't make this move based on benefits to the organization.  They still need Offensive Line help, a Wide Out, D End, etc.  This was done as a publicity stunt to take the back pages of the NY newspapers away from the NY Giants who, by the way, dont worry about that stuff,  All they do is win SuperBowls!!  I could tell that this is one of those moves made by ownership!! Woody Johnson, owner of the Jets, sat in the owners box in Mile High Stadium the night Tebow and Broncos came back to beat the Jets. When Tebow became available, he probably said "(Jets GM) Tannenbaum, I don't care what you have to do! Bring me Tebow!!!" Championships are not built off gimmicks!! They are built off of hard work, smart work, determination and patience!! None of these traits have been displayed by the Jets!!! Good luck this season!! Myself and the Lord are watching!!
Next up, the Ridiculous!! A woman in Colorado called a Denver radio station and bragged about how she avoided jury duty! This moron detailed the steps she took to avoid having to serve (including some lies about having post traumatic stress disorder and mental issues) and even talked about how she and her roommate got such a kick out of it!! Welp, the judge she lied to happened to be listening to the show, had her investigated and arrested on 2 felony charges (perjury and attempting to influence a public servant). Wow!!! Note to all aspiring thugs, crime bosses, thieves, etc; If your dumb a$$ is going to commit a crime, DON'T TELL ANYONE ABOUT IT, let alone call up a radio station to brag!!! I try to give people the benefit of the doubt.  Unfortunately, some people go out of their way to show you that they are stuck between stage 3 and 4 of the evolutionary chain!!
Finally, the Tragic!! Everyone knows the Trayvon Martin story!! It is a sad story and one that has affected all of us in some way.  I don't want to get too deep into it because, again, I want to keep my blog lighthearted.  But I will say two things about it. First, R.I.P Trayvon. A child is dead and no parent deserves that heartbreaking of an experience.  Second, I hope that this raw energy and emotion being shown can be transformed into something that will help make changes in the communities so that tragedies like this won't happen again.  Adversity creates courage and, if this inspires one child to become a lawyer, another to become an activist, etc. Then this effort won't be in vain!!!
